I ordered the large minced pork rice set (with a side dishes) for $14. The serving was really huge for a petite Asian girl like me (imagine two bowls of rice). Meal was delicious and I enjoyed every single bite. Delicious quick fix. Service was efficient (though most of the staff were expressionless probably due to fatigue at the non-stop customer flow), waitress was really nice to lend me their staff key when I needed to use the washroom (located beyond the glass doors beside the shop, 2 room on the right). Recommended for those who want a cheap good meal under $20.
P/S: This shop doesn't sell dumplings despite its name. You can find dumplings in the shops beside it though.
P/P/S: You can grab some candy as you leave the shop, it's just by the door. -

Ok guys...this place is called Cho DUMPLING King yet they don't serve dumplings. You know, one would assume that a place called dumpling king would have at least ONE dumpling, but once we got there, tummies hungry for dumplings, THERE WERE NONE. Truly a shame, missed opportunity to impress me with with some traditional Taiwanese food. That being said, the rest of the food was good, everything feeling like my grandma made it. in short, no dumplings 3 stars. Also, change the name would you?

The name alone used to send young 20-something me into fits of giggles and these days as a 30-something living so far abroad, coming back was a bit like coming home. Home where the staff are sullen, the service is non-existent but the food (basically the only reason why anyone visits) is top notch! For realz.
These guys serve decent Taiwanese fare. Like, the stuff you'd actually find in Taiwan rather than the bastardized OS flavoured versions that so many restaurants are fond of. Ask my mother, even she approves. And even better, the prices have barely changed in the last bunch of years.
During peak hours, getting in can be a nightmare. And they shut promptly at 8PM. But say what you will, they're efficient here. They attempt to expedite the peak-hour rush by forcing you to order before you get in but really, the best stuff is actually sitting in the window, waiting to be selected.
They have a bunch of plates in the window displaying their cold dishes. Referred to by the Taiwanese as 'small eats', these dishes can be anything. Pickled, spicy, meat, vegetarian, vegan, mystery, you name it, they've flavoured and it served it up on a plate. Favourites of mine are the pig ears, duck giblets and beans.
But if you had to pick from the menu, do yourself a favour and order the deep fried tofu, the pan fried turnip cake, or some of the fried chicken pieces. All this with a side of hot and sour soup and their stewed mince and rice. Yum!
And if you must order a drink, their pearl milk tea is damn good! Goodness. I'm going to miss this place again when I'm home! -

Situated next to Chinese Noodle Restaurant is a Taiwanese restaurant with the peculiar name of Cho Dumpling King. Don't let the name deceive you, since no dumplings are served at this establishment.
I've been here several times already and while the place is small and usually full, the wait is quick. Takeaway is easy and service is prompt. The food here is great and cheap, you really can't go wrong with anything you order here...Taiwanese snacks are the bomb. You can order several different types of snack foods as well as side dishes you normally wouldn't get anywhere else and the teas are tasty too (frothy green tea ftw.)
Their lunch deals are very nice...if you're ever in the area and don't feel like ramen at Menya or the wait might be too long at Chinese Noodle Restaurant, then give this place a go. -

Warning: dumpling place with no dumplings. They don't sell dumpling place but service amazing Taiwanese food. They have really good minced pork rice and you can make it a combo with soup and a side dish for just around $10 dollars. gotta say, cheap authentic Taiwanese food that satisfies a bit of craving from TW.
